Bread Machine Pizza Dough Recipe

Now, why not use your bread machine to make pizza dough? You place all the ingredients into the machine and set it, then you are free to do other things until the dough is ready is why! The machine combines the ingredients into just the right texture of dough and allows it to rise in the machine. Your bread machine does the work for you. All you do is measure and wait until the dough stage is complete, then you roll out the dough, place it on the pizza pan, top with your favorite ingredients, and bake.

To make pizza dough in your bread machine, you will first need to be sure that you have the following ingredients:

  • 3 cups of white, bread flour
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons of dry milk
  • 2 tablespoons of granulated, white sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt
  • 2 tablespoons of dried Italian herbs or commercial, dry mix for spaghetti sauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of rapid-rise or bread-machine yeast
  • 2 tablespoons of softened butter
  • 1 cup of lukewarm water

Each bread machine has specific instructions with it as to how to add the ingredients, but I simply measure all the dry ingredients into a mixing bowl and stir to combine them. I then add the butter and water to the machine’s pan. Make sure the paddle is in place first before performing this step, though, and measure the water just before you add it, so it will not cool too much before it needs to help activate the yeast.

Place the pan into the bread machine and set it on the dough cycle. My machine takes 90 minutes to complete this cycle, but machines vary so yours may take less time. Once the cycle is over, flour your work area and place the dough on it. Flour your rolling pin and roll out the dough into the size and shape of your baking pan. You even can divide the dough into smaller sections to make individual pizzas if you desire.

Liberally oil your baking pan with vegetable oil before placing your rolled dough on it. The oil will provide a crispy crust. Top with your favorite toppings and bake the pizza at 400°F for about 20 minutes. Enjoy eating your pizza containing the dough you make in your own bread machine.
